Equipment guide

The details
behind the setup.

Purpose first.

Define the activity and venue before comparing equipment. Protective requirements vary, and the exact model’s stated use matters more than a broad category label. Check manufacturer instructions and the organiser’s rules together.

Fit is a specification.

Read sizing and adjustment information for the particular item. Clothing should be considered alongside the layers it will be worn with; carrying equipment should be assessed with the accessories it is meant to hold. A photograph does not measure the fit on a person.

Look at the complete version.

Product variants may differ in size, components or included accessories. Identify the model and version when comparing an offer. For protective products, check the accompanying instructions, intended-use limitations and any stated rating rather than assuming them from appearance.

Keep the condition in view.

Before use, follow the manufacturer’s inspection and care instructions. Equipment with damage or uncertain protective performance needs appropriate assessment. Clothing and load-carrying vests do not become protective armour because of their tactical styling.

Bring a specific question.

A product name, size and intended application make a more useful comparison than a category alone. Ask about the exact version, included items and the practical arrangements for a purchase.
